About this event

Please join the ASID Texas Dallas Design Community for our October event at the newly remodeled showroom of ASID Industry Partner Lights Fantastic Pro, which has been designed exclusively for the professional community with state of the art products demonstrating how new technology can enhance your projects. Lighting experts will present "LED... The Magic of Lighting" and discuss their new lighting gallery that is part product showcase, part design studio, and part idea incubator. WAC Lighting and Modern Forms will also present the following CEU:

LED301 Emerging Technologies in Decorative LED Luminaires [IDCEC #111361 | HSW | counts for 2 credits | also approved by AIA & ALA]

The course features new technologies, materials and shapes and sizes, as well as new electronics developed for LED Luminaires including new driver technology, dimming and control capabilities, upgraded LEDs, usage and better output. Also reviewed are new standards for LED luminaires such as certifications, compliance and local laws and ordinances, as well as decorative and layered lighting techniques such as task, accent and ambient lighting. What we enjoy most about LED lighting is that it can revolutionize design. Luminaires become cleaner and sleeker than before when we were limited to large and glaring lamp options. LED lighting enables people with a quality of lighting they never thought possible or knew they needed.

The Dallas Design Community is one of five design communities that make up the ASID Texas Chapter, which is part of the larger American Society of Interior Designers [ASID], a community of people – designers, industry representatives, educators and students – committed to interior design. Through education, knowledge sharing and advocacy, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively impact and change people’s lives. Of the Society’s 24,000 Practitioners, 20% practice Residential design, 30% practice Commercial design, and 50% practice both. The ASID Texas Chapter represents 1,700+ Practitioner, Educator, Student and Industry Representative members (almost 1,100 of which are Practitioners and/or Educators) throughout the state of Texas excluding the greater Houston area, which is covered by the ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter. Since the Texas Chapter is quite large both in membership and in geographic expanse, most of the programming throughout the year takes place in the Design CommunitiesAustin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and West Texas. Our members work in both the residential and commercial fields, either as sole proprietors or as part of small or large firms. Within the state and around the world, they provide valuable services and useful products to their clients. Our members strive to improve the quality of life for all of their clients through the creation of aesthetically pleasing, thoughtful design that takes into account the health, safety and welfare of the public.
